Our architecturally designed facility features well-lit rooms tailored for different age groups, complemented by spacious, natural, and engaging playgrounds. These thoughtfully crafted spaces allow children to explore, discover, and enjoy their early learning experiences. We eagerly anticipate becoming an integral part of the Wallan community, contributing to the educational journey of children and fostering a nurturing environment for growth and development.

Tailored Learning Spaces

At North Star Early Education, we’ve named each of our rooms after Nordic animals, symbols of strength, curiosity, and wisdom, to reflect the unique journey of development that takes place at every stage of early childhood. These animals are thoughtfully chosen to represent the qualities and characteristics we see in children as they grow and learn. From the gentle beginnings in the Owl Room to the confident steps toward school in the Bear Room, each space is designed to nurture, inspire, and guide children through their early learning journey with care and intention.

Owl Room

Nursery | 6 Weeks – 1 Year

At North Star Early Education, the Owl Room welcomes our youngest learners into a nurturing and secure environment that supports their earliest developmental stages. Named after the wise and gentle owl, this room reflects calm and care, laying the foundation for lifelong learning.

Inspired by the Finnish early education model, our approach focuses on holistic growth through play-based learning, responsive caregiving, and meaningful relationships. Our educators build strong, trusting bonds with each child, supporting individual routines for feeding, rest, and play to create a true sense of belonging.

With its warm, homely feel, the Owl Room is a ‘home away from home’ where emotional security and curiosity are nurtured. Through the FinlandWay® curriculum, we promote early communication, physical development, and social awareness in a calm and caring space.

Eagle Room

Toddlers | 1 – 2 Years

The Eagle Room supports our curious toddlers through an exciting phase of exploration and independence. Just like the eagle, children in this room are beginning to spread their wings, gaining confidence and developing new skills each day.

Designed for children aged 1 to 2 years, this space promotes independence, language development, and social connection through guided play. Educators support the development of self-help skills, introduce early literacy and numeracy, and offer activities that enhance physical coordination.

This is also where our in-house programs begin, including sports, sustainability, and yoga for emotional regulation, providing a well-rounded approach to learning and wellbeing. The FinlandWay® curriculum supports toddlers in building resilience, creativity, and self-expression.

Reindeer Room

Junior Kindy | 2 – 3 Years

In the Reindeer Room, children continue to develop their independence and begin preparing for the next stage of their learning journey. Like the reindeer—steadfast and social—our children are growing in confidence, navigating friendships, and refining their communication skills.

This stage introduces more complex learning experiences through the investigations program, which is shared with the Pre-Kindergarten. With access to a shared outdoor yard, children enjoy open-ended play and collaborative learning.

Educators promote self-help skills, expanded vocabulary, problem-solving, and emotional regulation through imaginative play, sensory activities, and physical movement. The FinlandWay® curriculum guides this development, ensuring each child is supported as they strengthen their social, cognitive, and physical foundations.

Moose Room

Pre-Kindergarten | 3 – 4 Years

Our Moose Room offers a rich and engaging environment designed for children preparing to transition into more structured learning. Just as the moose represents quiet strength and readiness, children in this room are gaining the tools they need for a confident move into formal education.

Led by a qualified Early Childhood Teacher, the program blends child-led learning with intentional teaching. The room includes a large, shared outdoor space with a sandpit, climbing equipment, and a herb and vegetable garden—encouraging connection with nature and hands-on discovery.

With added incursions and excursions, children engage with their community and deepen their learning. The FinlandWay® curriculum supports literacy, numeracy, social-emotional development, and problem-solving, giving each child a strong foundation for school.

Bear Room

Kindergarten | 4 – 5 Years

The Bear Room is our government-funded 4-Year-Old Kindergarten program, led by a qualified Early Childhood Teacher and supported by a passionate team of educators. Like the bear, children in this room are curious, capable, and ready for the journey ahead.

This final stage focuses on school readiness, independence, and self-confidence. Children are encouraged to communicate their ideas, regulate their emotions, and engage in more structured group activities, all while continuing to learn through play.

With a strong emphasis on language, collaboration, and personal responsibility, the Bear Room is where key developmental milestones are consolidated. Supported by the FinlandWay® curriculum, the program prepares children for a seamless transition to school with the knowledge, resilience, and confidence they need to thrive.

There are many words to describe how amazing this centre is but I can only explain my experience. My daughter was at a nearby centre and I never felt completely comfortable there after her orientation. But I let it go as my daughter seemed happy there. Obviously with a two year-old her sleep times are a bit all over the place. I would drop her off at various times in the morning but one time it was a bit later than normal and this particular time, I have never felt so uncomfortable dropping my daughter off. At this point I was in a tough spot personally and this experience caused me to burst into tears. Very embarrassing but none the less it was a wake up call to move her. I drove over to North Star to see if the newly built centre still had any vacancies as I knew my niece was having a fantastic experience there. I was incredibly lucky that they could take my daughter on the days required quite quickly. The difference in staff attitudes, how easy it is to be able to communicate easily with everyone in the centre is just amazing. The educators in my daughter’s room are absolutely fantastic. I am incredibly happy here and will recommend this centre to anyone who asks. Thank you to everyone at North Star for a wonderful experience. Unfortunately it can be hard to find.

Could not be happier with the service and care given to my boys. Sadly I had and extremly negative experienced with the prvious daycare centre my boys attended. I was never heard with my concerns and always made out to feel like "I was the problem". But since changing them over to this facility the care has been absoloutly noticable for the better. ALL staff are amazing, welcoming and extremly comfortable. Since my previous expericence I never thought I would find somewhere I felt comfortable sending my children. This that were issues previosuly are suddenly not issues anymore. I feel like my children are safe, they are both always happy to be with the educators and I feel extremley confident in the care they give. I highly recomend this facility for anyone looking for a centre, they honestly care for my boys like they are their own. Communication is fantastic and nothing gets missed. This place is everything you want in a facilty and more. All educators go above and beyond, I could not thank them enough for everything they do for not only my sons but for me as a parent. THANK-YOU!!

NorthStar have gone above and beyond in supporting families to have rich play and learning experiences at home. The play dough starter kit we received from Northstar was a timely and perfect afternoon activity for an otherwise quiet day. We practiced measuring, pouring and dividing the dough, increasing motor skills and language development. Thanks for providing us with this little learning activity which keeps them entertained for hours (and months to come)!

Our daughter has been at Northstar Wallan since she was 4 months old, and we couldn't be happier. Now at 9 months, she's thriving—happy, engaged, and developing beautifully. The educators and staff are so lovely, warm, and friendly. Communication is always clear and reassuring, and we feel truly confident leaving her in their care. We're so grateful for the nurturing environment they've created. Highly recommend!

North Star have continuously and consistently impressed us with their staff, their facilities and their philosophy. The premises incorporate themes from their Finnish educational model, indigenous Australia and the various cultures that make up our community. The environment doesn’t just nurture the kids who attend, but the whole community- with they have on-the-run emergency breakfasts for busy parents; a community pantry for struggling families; and collection points for local charities. The staff are experienced, knowledgeable and caring. They’ve surpassed our expectations in every way. The menu is nutritious and exciting without being too challenging for young palates. We couldn’t be happier with our choice to have North Star as part of our care community.

I’ve had my daughter on the waitlist for North Star since I first saw the signage on the new build. I’m so glad I waited for this centre. The rooms are gorgeous and the team are nothing short of amazing. Special shout out to the 3YO Kinder educators. My daughter has only been here for 2 weeks but it feels like she’s been here forever. She absolutely loves it!

My daughter started at North Star four weeks ago and after touring many centres in the area I was taken away buy my tour experience, all the staff were amazingly friendly to both myself and daughter, it was going to be my first time leaving my daughter in care and I felt right about this centre, I was nervous but happy that I had made the right choice buy choosing North Star, she has had the delight of being in the Reindeer room with some of the most humblest educators who she adores I was worried about her sleeping and eating as she is very set in her routine at home but they managed to get her to sleep and eating everything, as a first time day care mum I can’t say how impressed I have been, my daughter is loving it and looks forward to going her room leader Kaitlyn goes above and beyond to communicate with me through out the day calling me and sending me photos, the centre is so nice and clean I can not fault them I’m greatful to find such amazing centre with such great service and staff.

We have had our son on the waitlist to attend this centre since it was first announced that North Star would be opening. We loved the premise of learning in line with the Finland Way education model. Our son started on day 1 of their opening and I cannot say just how pleased we are with every element of the service. We expected some teething issues given it was a brand new centre but service has been above and beyond our expectations since commencement. I've had this child and my older kids at various centres in the area and whilst some were great (others shocking) North Star is world's apart in terms of communication and service, but mostly because every day my very clingy 2 year old is happy to go and then happy at home time to tell me all about his wonderful day. They understand that every child is different and encourage the individuality of the child and their interests and routines rather than force them to conform to what is easiest. We love it so much we already have our next child on the waitlist and they arent even born yet, but can't risk there not being availability
