Induction Process

We understand that starting at a new childcare centre is a significant transition for both children and parents. Our induction process is designed to make this transition as smooth and comfortable as possible. Here’s how it works:

1. One-on-one interview:
Before your child begins, we invite you to a one-on-one interview with our team. This is an opportunity for us to get to know your family, understand your child’s unique needs, and discuss any specific concerns you may have.

2. Tailored induction sessions:
To help ease your child into their new environment, we offer a series of induction sessions. These sessions allow your child to acclimatise gradually while you remain close by. We recommend starting with at least two to three half days before transitioning to full days.

3. Individualised approach:
We recognise that every child is different. Our experienced staff will work closely with you to create an individualised induction plan that suits your child’s temperament and needs, ensuring a personalised experience.

4. Minimising separation anxiety:
We understand that separation anxiety is common during this transition. Our team is trained to support children through this process by:

  • Encouraging gradual separation through short visits.
  • Providing comforting routines and familiar activities.
  • Maintaining open communication with parents to keep you informed and reassured.

We aim to foster a sense of security and belonging, ensuring that your child feels safe and excited about their time with us.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss our induction process further, please don’t hesitate to reach out!

Meet our friendly educators

Our educators at North Star are committed and caring professionals who above all want the best for your children. They come to us as qualified and experienced practitioners and then undertake an ongoing intensive training programme in the FinlandWay® teaching philosophy and methods. This additional training programme has been designed by Senior Lecturers at the University of Helsinki and it takes 18 months of theory and practice to complete.
Taila
Taila
Centre Manager

Taila has worked in early childhood since 2015 in a variety of roles including inclusion support, assistant educator, lead educator and assistant director. Taila has been a Centre Manager for 5 years now and absolutely loves leading a team to success.

Taila has an immense passion for working with children and fostering their growth and development for their later stages in life. Being in a management role enables her to be able to support families from the moment they first connect with the centre and work side by side with them and the educators to ensure they feel their child is entering a safe and secure environment.

As a mum, Taila believes that her own experiences as a first-time parent combined with her early childhood experiences allows her to connect with families on varying levels. whilst being able to understand their queries, concerns and goals for their children.

We are delighted to have Taila as part of the North Star team, and we cannot wait to see our Wallan centre flourish under her leadership.

Sam
Sam
Operations Manager

Sam comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the Early Childhood sector, having worked her way through various roles in the 14 years she has been in the industry. Sam started her career as a trainee assistant educator and worked her way through her qualifications early on, falling in love with the diverse, exciting and inspiring work that is Early Childhood.

In recent years, Sam has set up and opened brand new centres and progressed into being an Area Manager and overseeing those centres before stepping into Operations at North Star.

Sam has always had a deep passion for education and teaching children independence and life skills early on, with a strong focus on allowing children to learn by doing.  As a mum herself, Sam understands how tough it can be to start your early childhood journey as a parent, so prides herself on building relationships and providing reassurance for families from the moment they enquire for care.

Sam has high expectations when it comes to her teams and the educators running the centres and she is a big advocate for role modelling, mentoring and guiding everyone to success in providing quality, meaningful education and care.

Sam is beyond excited to be on this journey with North Star and cannot wait to share our centres and our brand-new philosophy on education and care with you all.
