At North Star Early Education, our Kindergarten program is thoughtfully designed to prepare children for a confident and successful transition to primary school. Government-funded and delivered by qualified early childhood teachers, our Kinder curriculum goes beyond simple play to build independence, confidence, curiosity, and essential learning skills.
Children benefit from a play-based, child-centred program guided by both the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework and our FinlandWay® curriculum. Through intentional learning experiences and expert teaching, every child is supported to grow socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically in a nurturing environment.

We could not be happier with North Star! The facilities are absolutely beautiful, clean, and filled with fantastic, thoughtfully designed spaces for the children to play and learn. What truly makes it special, though, is the staff: they are exceptionally caring, attentive, and always helpful. Knowing our child is in such a safe, warm, and nurturing environment brings us total peace of mind. Highly recommend!
My daughter has been going to North Star for almost six months now and it really feels like she has a great time, learns loads and is forming great friendships with every visit. Takes some solid coaxing to try and get her to get in the car after actually. Staff are all lovely and the location is super convenient for us. Recommended.
My grandchildren love going to North Star. All the staff are beautiful, caring and welcoming. They previously attended another centre, but since coming here they have learned so much more and their development and confidence have really improved. North Star Bellfield is such an incredible little gem of a centre. Even as a third time mum, it is always nerve racking when your child begins their experience in care and although my youngest is only very young, she has been welcomed and cared for so graciously by educators. It is so reassuring to know that she is being so well planned and cared for throughout the day. I am so appreciative of the warmth and care my child receives, as well as the overall wonderful facilities, resources and programs that she is involved in. Amazing childcare with a heart! The Finland style of education means my daughter is nurtured as an individual in a calm, beautiful environment. As a first-time mum, the constant updates and communicative staff have made the transition so easy. My little girl is always so quick to embrace her genuinely lovely carers, which has been such a huge relief. They have been so determined and consistent in helping her settle in and aligning with her daytime nap routine. From the healthy food and high-quality toys, clean rooms & thoughtfully designed spaces, to the parent community events (and the coffee machine for parents on the go!), they truly think of everything. My daughter is thriving here and I couldn't recommend North Star more highly! She just did a little excited squeal when I dropped her off this morning, and thats pretty reassuring from a 10 month old!
We have felt so welcomed at NorthStar and are so grateful for the care our daughter receives there. What is the North Star Kindergarten Program?
In Victoria, government-funded kindergarten supports children in their early years of learning, regardless of whether it is delivered in a sessional setting or within a long day care centre. Our integrated Kindergarten Program combines the best of funded early education with the extended care and structure of full-day learning.

How We Support School Readiness
Our Kindergarten program emphasises key foundations children need before starting school:
Independence and self-confidence – children are encouraged to manage daily routines, make choices, and problem solve.
Social and emotional skills – through group times, collaborative play, and guided interactions, children learn to communicate, share, and regulate their behaviour.
Language and early literacy – daily stories, conversations, and literacy-rich activities build strong communication skills.
Early numeracy – children explore numbers, patterns and shapes through meaningful, hands-on experiences.
